Start with the basics!
Jan 14, 2022When it comes to weight loss, it is very easy to want to overcomplicate things. Especially when you’re presented with so many options.
I know when I started my journey, I followed a lot of the fad diets. I cut foods out of my diet, I added in special diet foods. I made highly-complex recipes. I did a lot of things trying to lose weight.
It was overwhelming.
It was tiring.
It didn’t get the results I thought it would.
It made the entire process even more difficult and discouraging.
Now, with over 2,000 clients served, this is the ONLY solution that actually works: Start with and stick with the basics.
You don’t need pills or potions or complex recipes.
These are the 4 most important things you need to start your weight loss on the right foot:
- Choose more nutrient-dense foods. Most people who struggle with their weight do so because the bulk of their diet is processed foods, fast foods, nutrient insufficient foods. I know mine was! I was often in the drive-thru lane, grabbing convenience foods that tasted good but gave me little nutrition. Today I eat whole foods that are full of vitamins and minerals. Incorporate fresh fruits and veggies, lean protein, and whole grains into your diet whenever you can.
- Do your best to maintain a healthy caloric balance. A lot of weight loss comes from being mindful of your calories in vs your calories out. Are you eating more than you’re burning? If so, you’ll gain weight. Watch your intake, be mindful of your output.
- Get rest and manage your stress. Adequate rest is essential for healthy hormones and stress management. If your stress isn’t managed and you’re not getting enough rest, your body isn’t working optimally which means sluggish weight loss and increased difficulty reaching your goals.
- Move ya body. Movement is one of the most important factors for sustainable weight loss. And I’m not just talking in the gym. I’m talking non-exercise activity too. The steps to the store, the steps in your office, the bending and reaching you do during household chores. Keep your body moving to keep your metabolism working.
Try these four fundamentals BEFORE you invest in restrictive or hard-to-follow fad diets. I can all but guarantee that you will begin seeing results when you get consistent in these areas. You don’t have to do all the things to be successful.
